Strate adopts Reach for a Dream Foundation hospital ward

At Strate, we believe it is important that Strate serves as a good corporate citizen and that we proactively participate in creating sustainable infrastructures that support South Africa’s socio-economic development.  

 We run a “Do good” campaign where we encourage our employees to raise funds for worthy causes they believe in and Strate matches a percentage of the donations. 

 Strate’s Chairman Nigel Payne and his brother Adrian Payne took up our “Do Good” challenge, by taking part in the Freedom Challenge, Race across South Africa, under the theme “Ride For A Cause”, both last year and in 2023.  

The brothers aimed to raise awareness and funding for the Reach for a Dream Foundation. Strate has huge respect for the work of the Reach for a Dream Foundation in bringing hope and happiness to tens of thousands of children fighting life-threatening illnesses. 

The money raised by the brothers, together with Strate’s share, has contributed to the recent revamp of the Reach For A Dream children’s ward, known as a Dream Room, at Baragwanath Academic Hospital. This is the 40th Dream Room built by Reach For A Dream. 

 “We are delighted to see the money raised by the Payne brothers, and Strate’s contribution, going towards an initiative that will make a significant  difference in so many people’s lives,” said André Nortjé, Strate CEO. 

Strate has taken it a step further by adopting the children’s ward. “We will help to maintain the ward, whether it is a fresh coat of paint, new bedding or whatever help Reach for a Dream Foundation needs to keep the ward in good condition,” said André. 

 Strate employees will volunteer at the ward from time to time, helping where needed. Strate’s “Do good” campaign is designed to involve its employees in its CSI initiatives, as this fits well with its culture of caring.
