SA Home Loans has issued bonds totalling R1,25 billion under its Amber House programme, digitally settled and recorded through Strate’s infrastructure.

As a pioneer in home financing in South Africa, SA Home Loans relies on Strate’s central securities depository services to issue, settle and manage its unlisted bonds securely.

“Strate’s infrastructure removes many of the operational complexities typically associated with unlisted bonds, which were maintained on a certificated basis. By using the available digital infrastructure, we gain centralised settlement, consistent reporting and the confidence that comes with established market infrastructure, all without the requirements of a listed instrument,” says Jyoti Maharaj of SA Home Loans.

Issuers using Strate’s infrastructure benefit from the same settlement, reporting and record-keeping capabilities that the market relies on for listed instruments.

“Strate’s digital infrastructure offers issuers a consistent, reliable foundation for settlement and reporting, giving them and their funding partners confidence in how an instrument is managed throughout its life,” says Gregory Naicker, Head of CSD Services at Strate.

Benefits for issuers

By bringing unlisted bonds into a regulated, standardised environment, Strate helps issuers:

  • Simplify the operational processes involved in accessing debt funding
  • Strengthen reporting and transparency
  • Maintain the flexibility of unlisted instruments

Strate congratulates SA Home Loans on this issuance and thanks the team for their collaboration and trust in the Strate ecosystem. We look forward to supporting more companies seeking to access debt funding through trusted market infrastructure.
