Canal+, a leading global media and entertainment company, has elected to implement Strate’s enhanced cross-border removals capability following its JSE listing on 3 June 2026.
Canal+ (JSE share code: CNP, ISIN: FR001400T0D6) has a growing presence across multiple markets and a secondary inward listing on the JSE, giving South African investors access to a globally recognised business through local market infrastructure.
“We are pleased to welcome Canal+ to Strate’s ecosystem. Canal+ has appointed Strate as its preferred Central Securities Depository (CSD) for removals, settlement, registry and asset servicing functions. This appointment underscores confidence in Strate’s market infrastructure and post-trade capabilities.
As the first French company to list in South Africa, Canal+ marks an important milestone for the South African capital markets and further strengthens the diversity of issuers in Strate’s ecosystem. We look forward to partnering with Canal+ and supporting its growth and strategic ambitions in the South African market,” says André Nortjé, Strate’s CEO.
Benefits to the market
The removals capability offers operational and market-wide advantages:
- T+0 settlement in South Africa for inbound movements
- Faster and more predictable cross-border transfers
- Alignment of inventory across markets, supporting a more informed trading environment
- Opportunities for improved liquidity and fair-value pricing through cross-market visibility
- A seamless, standardised mechanism that reduces manual intervention and operational risk
Canal+’s decision to partner with Strate reflects the value a regulated financial market infrastructure brings to enabling efficient, globally connected markets.
