Strate Supervision has published its 2025 Regulatory and Supervisory Report, marking progress on strengthening its risk-based supervision framework and enhancing digital supervisory capabilities for more forward-looking and data-driven oversight.

Strate Supervision plays a central role in promoting market confidence, integrity and resilience in South Africa’s financial market infrastructure. As an operationally independent division within Strate, Strate Supervision monitors compliance with and enforces the Strate Rules and Directives. Its supervisory approach is underpinned by robust risk‑based supervision and sound risk management principles, supported by evolving supervisory tools designed to identify emerging risks, address vulnerabilities and safeguard the integrity of the market ecosystem.

Strate’s regulatory and supervisory activities are conducted under the oversight of the Regulatory and Supervisory Committee, which provides governance and strategic direction to ensure that supervisory outcomes remain effective and proportionate. This governance framework strengthens accountability and supports consistent, independent decision‑making in the exercise of Strate’s regulatory and supervisory responsibilities.

Strate’s mandate is aligned with the objectives of the Financial Markets Act, 12 of 2012, which guides its approach to market oversight, systemic risk management and the protection of financial market integrity.
