André joined Strate at the beginning of August 2018 as its CEO.
He has over 19 years industry experience, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer at Momentum Investments.
Former roles also include being the COO of Momentum Asset Management and the COO of fixed income, equity and solutions businesses at Ignis Asset Management in London.
Beverley Furman (Bev) is the Managing Executive of CSD Operations, a division of Strate (Pty) Ltd. The division was established in August 2016 and it encompasses Strate’s Clearing and Settlement division, its Project Management Office, the Product Development division as well as the Strate Collateral Management Services division.
Prior to this role, she was the Head of STRATE Supervision, which she created in 2001 to supervise and monitor compliance by the CSD Participants with the South African securities legislation, the Financial Markets Act – a role Strate must perform as a licensed Self-Regulatory Organisation. Bev has over 20 years’ experience in the financial markets. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Tanya Knowles is the Managing Executive of Fractal Solutions, a Division of Strate (Pty) Ltd. She has held various positions at Strate including Head of the Project Management Office, Strategy, International Relations, Marketing and Human Resources. Fractal Solutions focuses on blockchain / distributed ledger technology, cryptocurrencies, Initial Coin Offerings, fintech disruption and new products and services for Strate. In her private capacity, Tanya is a members of the Vuleka Schools Board, Strate Charity Shares and former Chairman of the Jeppe High School for Girls Association. She is involved in a number of women’s leadership and mentoring initiatives aimed at professional business women. She holds a BA, PDM and MBA Degrees all from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Dale Connock is Strate’s Chief Risk Officer. With extensive experience in the risk management field, Dale is an integral part of Strate’s business with the mitigation and management of risk being at the heart of the company’s vision and purpose.
The Risk Division promotes and maintains an enterprise-wide culture that values the importance of effective risk management, encouraging open and frank dialogue regarding the effectiveness of risk management-practices and potential risk-management deficiencies.
Maria is Strate’s Head of Legal and Regulatory. She has been with Strate since the start in 1997 heading up the Legal Working Committee to drive the required legislative changes and CSD rules to enable dematerialized securities. She serves as an Executive Member of Strate since 2000. Maria obtained academic qualifications in South Africa at the University of Pretoria (BLC, 1981; LLB, 1983) and the University of Pretoria (LLM, 1987; LLD, 1995) . She earned her LLD degree with a thesis titled “Aspects of the Dematerialization of Listed Shares in South African Law”. She qualified as an Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa in 1985. Maria published extensively in company law and securities law and served on various national and international legal and regulatory committees. She also serves as an external member and research associate of the Centre for Advanced Corporate and Insolvency Law, based at the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria.
As Strate’s Chief Information Officer, Rudi Steenkamp overseas the entire IT function of Strate. Since joining the company through Strate’s merger with UNEXcor in 2003, Rudi has worked in the IT space for over 16 years. With one of the most advanced and sophisticated IT infrastructure for a CSD, Strate has achieved 99.995% uptime for the last four years and is one of the top 2% users of the SWIFT Network internationally. He holds a B.Sc (Computer Science and Applied Mathematics) from Potchefstroom University (PU for CHE).
