Money Markets

Background

The Money Market Forum (MMF), representing the institutions that participate in the South African Money Market, launched a project to establish an electronic Money Market environment in South Africa. Since the MMF was disbanded, the newly formed Money Market Association (MMA) replaces the MMF role. The MMF Blueprint was reviewed and updated to reflect the current view of the MMA.

What is this service?

All Money Market securities issued and traded will be electronic and kept in a central Individual Ownership Register (“IOR”) held by the Central Securities Depository (Strate) and will be known as a Securities Ownership Register (“SOR”).
